Reorder, rename and duplicate content

Alva Courses is a Shopify app that lets you reshape a curriculum in seconds: drag lessons into a new order or a new section, move sections up and down, rename, duplicate or delete sections and lessons, and move a whole section to another course.

How it works

The Course tab in Alva Courses shows your course as a list of sections with lessons nested beneath each one. Lessons have a drag handle and up and down arrows. Each section header has up and down arrows and the buttons Visibility, Rename, Duplicate, Move and Delete. A new order saves straight away, with no separate Save button. The fullscreen course builder also lets you drag sections, and its ⋯ menus add Move to section for lessons.

Reorder, rename and duplicate steps

1. Open the course

In the Shopify admin, open Alva Courses, click Courses, and open the course you want to edit. The Course tab lists every section with its lessons nested beneath.

2. Reorder lessons and sections

Grab the drag handle on the left of a lesson and drag it to a new position, or hover over the lesson and use its up and down arrows. Drop a lesson into a different section to move it there. Sections have no drag handle: use the up and down arrows in the section header. The new order saves automatically.

3. Rename a section or lesson

Click Rename in a section header, type the new name in New Section Name and click Save. To rename a lesson, open it, change its Title and save the lesson.

4. Duplicate a section or lesson

Click Duplicate in a section header to copy the section and all its lessons; the copy, named “Copy of” the original, goes at the end of the course. To duplicate a lesson, open it and choose Actions → Duplicate; the copy goes at the end of the same section, ready to edit — handy for repeating a lesson template.

5. Move or delete content

To move a lesson to another section, drag it there. A section header's Move button moves the whole section, with its lessons, to another course — see Move a section to another course. If your store has only one course, Move is greyed out. To delete, click Delete in a section header, or open a lesson and choose Actions → Delete. Confirm the prompt — deleting a section also removes its lessons.

What learners see

In the storefront course player, sections and lessons appear in the exact order you set on the Course tab. Renaming a lesson updates its title in the sidebar immediately, and deleting content removes it from the player for everyone.
