How it works
Alva Courses ships a customer account extension that adds a full "My Courses" page to your store's native Shopify customer accounts. There is no switch for it in the Alva Courses dashboard: you add the page in Shopify's checkout and accounts editor, and Settings → Extensions in Alva Courses shows whether it is installed. When a student buys a course, their enrolment is tied to their Shopify customer account, so the right courses appear automatically — there is no second login and no separate learning platform to manage.
Set up My Courses and how students reach it
1. Add the My Courses page to customer accounts
In Alva Courses, open Settings, go to the Extensions tab and click Installation Instructions, then Install Alva Courses Extension. This opens Shopify's checkout and accounts editor: select the Alva Courses page, add it to customer accounts and save. Shopify offers to add a link to it in the customer account menu. Back in Settings → Extensions, click Refresh Status — Customer Account Extension shows as installed once it's live. While the page is selected in the editor, its settings control how it works. Page Type is redirect by default, which shows a Go to my courses button that opens your storefront courses page (yourstore.com/apps/alva/courses); choose inline to list course cards inside the account instead. For inline cards, Progress Bar shows or hides progress, and Image aspect ratio and Image fit shape the course images. 2. Sign in to the customer account
Students open your store's account login and sign in with the same email they used to buy the course. Enrolment follows the Shopify account, so they never need a separate password or platform.
3. Open My Courses
Inside the account, students follow the link you added to the account menu to reach the My Courses page. With Page Type set to inline, it shows their courses as cards with the product image, title and a progress bar. With the default redirect setting, it shows a Go to my courses button that opens your storefront courses page instead.
4. Continue a course
Students click Continue on a course they're enrolled in, or Start Course on a free course they haven't begun, to open it in the storefront course player. A course they have started reopens on the lesson they were last on. Completion ticks and progress carry over between visits.
What learners see
Learners see the courses they're enrolled in, plus any free courses you've published, inside your store's customer account. Each inline card links straight into the course player, and its progress bar updates as they finish lessons — so returning students land back where they stopped. After checkout, the separate thank-you and order status extensions also link buyers straight to their course.
