How it works
When an order containing a course product is paid, Alva Courses enrols the buyer. The Course Access - Thank You block shows a button to open the course on the thank-you page right after checkout. That button uses the student's personal access link, so it works even after a guest checkout with no Shopify customer account. The Course Access - Order Status extension adds a View Courses button to the order in the customer account, so buyers can return to their course any time. Both are native Shopify extensions you add in the checkout and accounts editor, with no theme code to edit.
Setup steps
1. Open the installation page
In Alva Courses, open Settings, go to the Extensions tab and click Installation Instructions. The page has an install button for each extension, and each one opens Shopify's checkout and accounts editor.
2. Add the thank-you page block
Click Install Thank You Page Extension. In the editor, open the Thank you page, add the Course Access - Thank You app block and position it where students will see it right after paying. Its Button Text setting changes the button label, which is Go To Course by default.
3. Add the order status button
Back on the installation page, click Install Order Status Extension. The editor opens on the Order status page: add the Course Access - Order Status extension. It is not a block on the page — it adds a View Courses button to the order's action menu in customer accounts, shown only on orders that contain a course.
4. Save and check the status
Click Save in the editor. The extensions go live immediately, with no app re-install needed. Back in Alva Courses, click Refresh Status on Settings → Extensions: Thank You Page Extension and Order Status Extension show as installed.
5. Test with a real order
Place a test order for a course product and pay. On the thank-you page, confirm the course is listed with a Go To Course button that opens it. In the editor preview the block shows an Example Course instead.
What learners see
Right after checkout, the thank-you page shows a "Thank you for your course purchase!" banner and each course with a Go To Course button, which reads Enrolling... for a moment while enrolment finishes and opens the course in a new tab. Later, the order in their customer account has a View Courses button that opens a Your Courses panel listing each course with its progress and a Go to Course button — alongside "My Courses" in their account, if you have added it, and the branded enrolment email, if you have ticked Send enrollment emails in Settings → Email Settings.
On a course that holds new purchases for your approval, the thank-you page, the order status page and My Courses show "Awaiting the store's approval" instead of a course button until you approve the purchase. See Approve purchases before students get access.
