How it works
Alva Courses generates each certificate from a single template you control. Text fields hold your wording, while merge fields drop in the student name, course name and completion date automatically for every learner. Branding controls — logo, accent colour, fonts and signature — keep every certificate on-brand. A live preview shows the finished design as you edit.
Customise the design
1. Open the certificate editor
In the Shopify admin, open Alva Courses, go to Certificates, and open the certificate template you want to edit. A live preview appears beside the design controls so you can see every change as you make it.
2. Edit the title and body text
Set the heading, such as "Certificate of Completion", and edit the body wording. Insert the student name, course name and completion date merge fields where you want them — each certificate fills these in automatically when a learner finishes.
3. Add your branding
Upload your logo, set the accent colour and choose the fonts so the certificate matches your store. Add a signature image and the issuer name to sign it off and give it a finished, professional look.
4. Preview and save
Check the live preview to confirm the merge fields render correctly and the layout looks right, then save. New certificates use the updated design as soon as a student completes the course.
What learners see
When a learner finishes the course, Alva Courses issues their certificate with their name, the course name and the completion date filled in. They can view and download it as a PDF from the course player, ready to share or print.
