How it works
By default Alva Courses sends course emails from a shared alvaapps.com address with your store name shown as the sender. Adding your own domain lets you authenticate it with SPF and DKIM records so mailbox providers trust the mail as genuinely yours. Once the records verify, you choose the From address learners see, and every course email — enrolment confirmations, certificates and notifications — sends from your brand.
Set up your sending domain
1. Open email settings
In the Shopify admin, open Alva Courses, go to Settings, and select Email. Find the Sender domain section, which shows the From address currently used on your course emails.
2. Add your sending domain
Enter the domain you want emails to come from — for example academy.yourbrand.com — and click Add domain. Alva Courses generates the DNS records needed to authenticate it.
3. Add the DNS records
Copy the SPF, DKIM and return-path records Alva Courses shows, then add each one to your domain's DNS host exactly as listed. Save the records and give them time to propagate.
4. Verify and set the From address
Back in Alva Courses, click Verify. Once every record passes, set your From address, such as courses@academy.yourbrand.com, and save. New course emails now send from your own domain.
What learners see
Course emails now arrive from your verified address with your brand as the sender, so learners recognise the mail and are more likely to open it. Because the domain is authenticated, messages are far less likely to land in spam.
