When manual enrolment helps
Most students enrol automatically when they buy a course through your store. Manual enrolment is for the exceptions: comping a colleague, replacing access after a refund or migration, granting a free preview, or adding a beta tester. Because you enrol by email, the student gets access the moment you save — no order required. Removing a member is the mirror image: it revokes access immediately when someone should no longer be in a course.
Add or remove a member
1. Open the Members area
In the Shopify admin, open Alva Courses and click Members. This lists everyone enrolled across your courses, alongside the courses each person can access.
2. Add a member by email
Click Add member, type the student's email address, and select the course or courses to enrol them in. Save to grant access right away — they do not need to buy anything first.
3. Confirm the enrolment
The new member appears in the list with access to the courses you chose. They can sign in and open the lessons immediately from their account. To enrol many students at once, use a spreadsheet instead — see Import members with CSV.
4. Remove a member to revoke access
Open the member you want to change, choose the course to remove, and confirm. Removing the enrolment revokes their access immediately, while their Shopify order history stays intact for your records.
What the student sees
A newly added member finds the course waiting in their account the next time they sign in, ready to start from lesson one. When you remove someone, the course disappears from their library and the lessons are no longer playable — access ends the moment you confirm.
